“Chinese Bun” or local’s commonly known “Bao” is one of the Chinese authentic traditional eatery taken since thousands of years ago, nowadays been practised everywhere in the nation all presenting on respective recipes. Here in Johor, we found and successfully recognised among the best handmade Chinese Bun or Bao specialist “Hor Hwa Hiang” running by the Low family since 1980, into 2nd generation.

The Johorean Mr. Low See Leong (born 1954) who originated from Batu Pahat was the founder, together with his wife Madam Seah Ah Heng (born 1956) both are the initial owners of this recommended chinese bun (Bao) specialised eating house “Hor Hwa Hiang” at Segamat, Johor. Being assisted and now running by next generation sons Low Aik Kiong (born 1977), Low Pin Kiong (born 1983), Low Chee Kiong (born 1987) & daughter Low Pei Yin (born 1989) continue serving their very authentic traditional home handmade Bao selections to the locals & visitors under a roof. Being recognised as the best in town year 2018.

Low See Leong, who at his age of 64 years old currently, initially stepped into the f&b industry at his 26th in year 1980 began to touch the making & production of traditional handmade chinese bun (Bao) in Kulai, Johor bodied with younger brother. Then further his exposure to supplies stayed nearly 20 years experienced deeply in the field reached year 1998 at Johor Bahru.

With See Leong’s experiences hold, vision to have his very owned eating house and foreseeing the market opportunity in the f&b industry. Added with his wish to expose his traditional handmade chinese bun (Bao) recipes allowed him in year 1999 successfully established his very first & owned chinese bun (Bao) restaurant registered as “Hor Hwa Hiang” at Taman Yayasan, Segamat (Johor). Running towards their 40th years into 2nd generation, recipes fully passed onto their eldest son Aik Kiong recently, who since kids helping parents in the career eventually leading younger brothers & sisters.

In this Hor Hwa Hiang, the founder’s very first top recommended in menus will be their “Char Siew Bao” which most wanted by their regular customers. In-house handmade Bao prepared from selected quality flour, wrapped insided with their marinated & kept overnight home recipe charcoal roasted pork (char siew) fried mixed with chopped onions, oyster sauce & sesame oil, then served after about 15 minutes steam-cooked brings wonderful sweet tasty authentic traditional “Chinese Handmade Char Siew Bao” you must try when reached Johor. Especially the bun’s soft bites texture itself and the char siew mixtures recipe into mouth, will be the best in town.

Secondly will be their “Hwa Hiang Da Bao” meaning of Giant Bun, which among the restaurant’s daily top seller recently favourite by the visitors. Local fresh pork belly selected, boiled & deep fried to half-cooked, followed by an hour stewed with their secret ingredients recipe, then prepared in sliced pieces, finally served after 10 minutes steamed wrapped in between their handmade flour-bun will be the best chewing bites eatery you will neither taste better elsewhere in town.

While in order to bring the combination of steamed glutinous rice with chicken & flour-made buns, Hor Hwa Hiang also introduced their very amazing “Emperor Chicken Nestled Bun” or locally well-known as ‘Kai Wo Bao’ that likes by all visitors.
