The North Malaysian Mr. Wong Kim Onn who born 1963 and originated from Perak was the founder and with his lovely wife local Johorean Ms. Alice Tan Ah Hoon who with her age of 47 currently are the owners of the chinese seafood cuisine restaurant well known as “Restoran Tang City” in Johor Bahru.

Wong Kim Onn who at his age of 51 years old recently, formerly in construction industry for more than 10 years stepped into food & beverage industry in year 2004 at his age of 41 years old began in Johor.  While Ms. Alice Tan who born locally in 1967, spent 19 years under-employed in electronic industry at Singapore returned to hometown Johor Bahru at her age of 37 in year 2004.  Mr. Wong who having interest in eatery together with wife commenced their f&b career by established their very first and own kopitiam also known food centre at Taman Desa Tebrau in 2004 named “Restoran Tang City” began their journey.  But unfortunately not successful after two years running the restaurant.

In year 2006, Mr. Wong and wife Alice insisted to further expose in the industry tried to convert their food centre into a chinese seafood cuisine restaurant at same location with assisted by their chef Mr. Yap Ten Keong (Ah Keong) introducing exotic seafood menus recipe to the public and visitors.  From there, they having great response from regulars enabled them to explore untill today being famously visited by locals and visitors.

The restaurant main chef Ah Keong who born 1976 with age of 38 years old currently originated from capital Kuala Lumpur initially stepped into the career since his age of 16 years old in 1992 in Kuala Lumpur recruited as kitchen trainee all the while in chinese cuisine field having more than 20 years cooking experience joined “Restoran Tang City” as Main Chef since year 2006 to recent.  His experiences and creativity enable this seafood restaurant keep on introducing various variety of seafood and local chinese cuisine recipe menus to attract not only locals but especially Singaporeans.

In this seafood restaurant, the top recommended in menus will be their Hong Kong Style Steamed Fish using various fresh fish selections clear steamed poured onto their chef’s home recipe soya sauce which taste slight salty and sweet made mixed from more than 10 ingredients then topped with shredded ginger and veges you must try when reached Johor.  Secondly will be their Dong Po Pork Belly which made using fresh pork belly boiled for about 10 minutes then stewed for an hour with their home recipe sauce mixed with herbals then served in cutted cubes also one of the top signature in the restaurant.

Somemore their Wheat Prawn using fresh sea prawn known ‘Ming Ha’ deep fried in boiled oil then mixed fried with wheat insided with chili and curry leaf brings the best eatery taste you cannot missed.  Moreover, one of the emperor dish served will be the Signature Sea Cucumber Yi Pin Guo also known Emperor Platter made up from mixture of sea cucumber, mushroom, deer tenden, scallop, abalone slice, fish maw and sea veges stewed for about 5 minutes with their 2 hours recipe soup base sauce presenting a complete top class platter also most wanted by their regulars.  In vegetable selection, been introduced their Tasty Dry Fried Season Beans with pork minced, onions and garlic which you never regret after consumed in “Restoran Tang City”.
