One of the famous and favourite not only by locals but also visitors the ‘Seafood’ and ‘River Fish’ widely exposed in South Malaysia.  One of the local wildlife recipe specialist Mr. Tan Kin Hian (Ah Hian) who originated from Kota Tinggi, Johor born in year 1974 was the founder and with his lovely wife Ms. Sally Chen Yet Lye at her age of 28 recently are the owners of the well known seafood, river fish and wildlife recipe restaurant “Hon Bin Seafood Restaurant” at Johor Bahru having 20 years history.

Tan Kin Hian (Ah Hian) who with his age of 40 currently, initially affected by friend stepped into the f&b industry in year 1991 at his age of only 17 years old reached Singapore been recruited in a chinese cuisine restaurant at Jurong as kitchen trainee began his cooking career spent about 3 years experience and sharpen his profession.  Later on in year 1994, Ah Hian returned to Malaysia and based in Johor Bahru established his very first owned seafood restaurant named “Hon Bin Seafood Restaurant” at Jalan Permas 2/15 introducing his home recipe to the public.

At the beginning, Ah Hian’s father Mr. Tan Man Chew, mother Madam Soh Geok Hoi, brother and sister joined and assisting Ah Hian in the restaurant to explore and aside him gone through his very hard and downturn period enabled Ah Hian to expose further to recent spent 18 years afterwards in year 2012 moved to enlarge his restaurant to recent location at Jalan Permas 1/3, Bandar Baru Permas Jaya.  While his wife Sally who stepped into the industry since year 2003 began at her age of 17 years old joined husband in year 2006 both operating the restaurant towards today’s succeed.

In this seafood restaurant, for sure their experienced founder Ah Hian who also a wildlife recipe chef recommend thier Signature Sizzling Onions Crocodile Meat which using fresh crocodile meat cutted in slices fried with garlic, onion and ginger slice mixed with his home recipe sauce sizzling on pan brings the exotic eatery you must try when reached Johor Bahru.

Secondly will be their wild river fish selection, Home Style Steamed ‘Pak Sou Gong’, or options of various river fish depends on stock available.  Steamed fish served poured onto Ah Hian’s home recipe soya sauce brings the best taste when into mouth you never regret after consumed.  Having great response not only by locals but also visitors especially Singaporeans.  Others, the Dry Roasted Prawn with Rice Wine also recommended in menu which using fresh prawn named ‘Ming Ha’ roasted then served poured onto their homemade rice wine recipe sauce will be one of the top recipe in town.

Moreover, cannot missed when stepped into a seafood restaurant will be the ‘Crab’, their Golden Crab which giant wild river crab boiled then fried with their home made signature pumpkin sauce likes by almost all their regulars cannot stop taking when stepped into “Hon Bin Seafood Restaurant”.  Nonetheless, the Claypot Stewed Catfish and Roasted Local White Octopus locally known ‘Sotong’ served in slices also recommended to have by tipping onto their in-house sambal sauce.
