Serving “Roasted Mix”, “Chinese Cuisine” and “Seafood” menus under a roof in Gkam Foong Restaurant leading by Chef Low running into 17 years in Ipoh, Perak being recognised as one of the MalaysiaBest restaurant by locals presenting various home recipe selections to the public.

The local Perak originated Mr. Low Chee Meng who born in year 1960 was the founder, together with lovely wife Ms. Yong Yin Keng (born 1963) are the immediate owners of the local famous “Restoran Gkam Foong” chinese seafood and roasted mix restaurant in Pengkalan Gerbang Mutiara since 1998, recently being assisted by younger son Low Tuck Wah (born 1991) further their explosure in the industry in North Malaysia, Perak.

Low Chee Meng or known Chef Low who at his age of 55 years old currently, stepped into the food and beverage industry since year 1980 at his age of 20 years old joined uncle’s restaurant “Teck Kee” began as kitchen trainee in chinese cuisine field spent about 3 years, then reached Kuala Lumpur continued his explosure in the profession.  While in year 1989, Chef Low been given opportunity to join the local well known “Bankers Club” in the main city as second chef to sharpen his career in the industry.

Afterwards, he sacrificed 4 years in England under-employed to further his chefing experience, later on allowed him in year 1998 at 38 of age established his very 1st and own restaurant named “Restoran Gkam Foong” at Taman Kar King, Perak began his journey with wife Yin Keng introducing their home roasted mix, seafood and chinese cuisine menus to the locals.  Subsequent to the great response from the market enabled Chef Low moved to Pengkalan Gerbang Mutiara, Ipoh (recent location) to further expose his career in the field.

In Gkam Foong restaurant, the founder’s top recommended in menus will be his Claypot Seafood Pot.  Which prepared insided with fresh prawn, fish fillet, cuttlefish and squid stewed in his 8 spices curry paste mixed with fried dried shrimp for minutes then served boiled in claypot with eggplant, lady finger and beans brings exotic spicy and salted taste you must try.

Secondly will be their signature Dual Taste Prawn which presented in 2 eatery on a plate, the salad prawn and dry butter prawn.  Salad prawn prepared with uncoated sea ‘ming prawn’ deep fried then served mixed with veges & fruits cube and salad sauce bring appertise eatery.  And the dry butter prawn served with coated prawn fried added into mixtures of butter, egg and chillies brings crispy and exotic spicy taste you never regret after taken.  Also one of their top seller in the restaurant.

Another will be Chef Low’s special PiPa Beancurd, most wanted by his regulars and visitors.  Water fresh white beancurd selected, blended mixed with prawn, egg and recipe flur the deep fried, and served poured onto their home recipe sauce made from 3 ingredients mixture brings unbelievable exotic eatery you ever found in the town.

Moreover, cannot aside their roasted mix which heading with the Roasted Pork Belly or locally known ‘Siew Nyuk’.  Which also the wife Yin Keng’s specialize, prepared twice a day.  Local fresh pork belly selected, marinated overnight with their secret 4 recipes mixture then roast on manual control brings authentic eatery wanted by most of their customers, especially the meats texture itself and the crispy skin level in bites.

Last but not least will recommend one of the signature Thai Emperor Chicken which prepared in cutted boneless pieces, marinated with flur recipes then deep fried.  Finally served poured onto their home recipe sour & spicy sauce comes from 5 ingredients mixture, and topped with onions and veges shredded you cannot missed when stepped into the “Restoran Gkam Foong” chinese roasted and seafood restaurant in Perak.
