THE 58 YEARS HISTORY AUTHENTIC “SIHUI GOPENG LAIFUN” NOODLES STILL RECENTLY PRACTISE AT PERAK INTO 4-GENERATIONS

“Laifun” or known rice made noodles is one of the Sihui, China traditional authentic eatery practiced since decades ago, brought into our nation and exposed frequently into the North part especially in Perak recently still carried by the Mok family into 58 years to 4th generation originated from Gopeng being recognised as one of the best eatery in year 2015.

The local originated Mr. Mok Tuck Meng (3rd generation) who born in year 1954, is the recent owner of the family generations laifun noodles “Gopeng Laifun” and “GP Kopisan Laifun” recently having 4 outlets, a conceptual retail and 2 food stalls all in Perak with the assistance by two sons, the 4th generation Mok Pooi Loon (born 1981) and Mok Pooi Zheng (born 1989) introducing their family traditional laifun noodles to the locals and visitors.

Tuck Meng’s grandmother Madam Tang Thewn who originated from Sihui, China born in year 1900, was the founder of their home made rice noodles began her very first laifun mobile career under ‘big tree’ at Kopisan, Perak since year 1957 introducing her hometown recipe “Laifun” noodles to the locals.  Later on moved to the Kampung Baru Kopisan in 1964, assisted by daughter Lau Ah Tho (Tuck Meng’s mother), then passed onto generation after 2 years in 1966.

Tuck Meng who touched the career since teenager in 1965 helping grandmother and mother, in year 1968 sucessfully exposed into shoplot named “Kopisan Laifun” in Kampung Baru Kopisan, still running recently.  And passed onto Tuck Meng, the 3rd generation itself in 1980 at his age of 26 years old.

Subsequent to the great response from the market on their generation handmade laifun enabled them to run a noodle stall in Greenhill in 2010 and another at Menglembu in 2011.  While in year 2012 established a specialize shop at Gunung Rapat named “GP Kopisan”, then after a year another outlet at Pasir Pinji and in 2015 the 4th outlet at Ipoh First Garden.  In order to further their homemade laifun career, allowed them to established the 1st conceptual retail in Bercham named “Gopeng Laifun” in year 2014 running by the 4th generation brothers.

Famously known “Gopeng Laifun” by the locals nearly into 60 years, the owner Tuck Meng’s first recommended among their signature in all their family’s noodle houses will be his grandmother’s home recipe “Laifun” or known rice noodle which hand made.  Traditionally served in soup base which boiled 5 hours with ikan bilis, then served topped with sesame and taken with their homemade chilli oil you must have a try when reached Perak.  Especially the rice exotic freshness taste brought out by the noodles “Laifun” itself into bites.

Today other than traditional Laifun Soup Noodle, they also introduced another 3 dry kon lou laifun which served either mixed with blended dried chillies paste & dried shrimp brings spicy taste.  Another served mixed with home recipe pork minced & salted veges, or can be served mixed with their 3 hours home fried curry paste on 29 ingredients mixture to various their menus on market demand.

Taken with their home 4-generation laifun, recently being sided with option choices most wanted by regulars and are those top sellers in the noodle house such their Handmade Fish Cake prepared without preservative and Cutted Fish Cake on home recipe.  Another will be their Homemade Fishball prepared using local ‘Ma Jiao’ fish with authentic chewing bites texture.

Besides, their Deep Fried Sengkuang made with their 4 secret recipes mixture also among the best choice in menu.  The owner also introduced their signature Deep Fried Ikan Bilis Cake which prepared with the mixtures of dried shrimp and ikan bilis you never regret after taken, only in these laifun noodle house.

Nonetheless, the Mok family newly recommend their Deep Fried Fish Cracker only available into the market since 3rd generation having very great response from their customers you cannot missed when stepped into the 4-generation “GP Kopisan Laifun” and “Gopeng Laifun” noodle houses in Ipoh, Perak.
