As been recognised by the world, where the Klang, Selangor in Malaysia was the origin of “Bak Kut Teh” since nearly a decade ago.  Also known as the first favourites by local chinese religious and visitors from around the world.  Here in Ipoh, Perak we found the authentic traditional eatery “Klang Bak Kut Teh” carried by the Tan family into 2nd generation presenting their grandfather’s home recipe to the public.

The Selangor originated Mr. Tan Cheng Siew who born year 1953 in Klang, was the founder of recent famous “Tan Kee Klang Bak Kut Teh” specialized restaurant since year 2009 in Perak.  Recently been passed onto his next generation, son Tan Wei Meng (born 1990) who is the current owner of the eating house.  Being assisted by younger brother and wife continue serving their family home recipe bak kut teh to the locals and visitors.

Tan Cheng Siew (founder) who at his age of 62 years old currently, initially stepped into the f&b industry since year 1980s running a seafood restaurant named “Sunrise Seafood” at Klang, Selangor for about 10 years.  Where he began his cooking and chefing experience, made his great interest in eatery and wishing to expose his father’s home recipe bak kut teh to the market.

While in year 1995, Tan Cheng Siew successfully established his very 1st and owned bak kut teh restaurant on his family recipe named “Yong Chu  Bak Kut Teh” at Klang, Selangor serving traditionally in bowl and also in claypot on visitors request.  From there, Tan’s bak kut teh being known one of the locals favourite and having great response from the visitors in Klang.

Later in year 2009, Tan family reached Ipoh, Perak again introducing their home recipe to the north Malaysians officially registered as “Tan Kee Klang Bak Kut Teh” along Jalan Raja Dr. Nazrin began by founder Tan Cheng Siew, then being passed onto 2nd generation Wei Meng and younger brother in 2010 continue their explosure in the career.  Being recognised as one of the best restaurant eateries at Perak in year 2015.

In Tan Kee, the founder’s top recommended among their signatures surely will be their home recipe Bak Kut Teh in soup.  Soup base boiled 3 hours with their 16 chinese herbals mixture, cooked insided with all-in such spare ribs, small & big bones, trotter, lean meats, belly pork, stomach and intestines brings very authentic “Klang Bak Kut Teh” you must taste when reached Ipoh, Perak.  Served boiled recently in claypot topped with mushrooms and dried beancurd or beancurd skin will brings exotic eateries most wanted by the locals.

Secondly will be their Signature Dry Bak Kut Teh, which from the Founder Tan Cheng Siew’s own recipes.  Pork meats mixture fried in claypot solely poured into their home bak kut teh soup base, added into soy sauce, garlic, chillies and dried chillies brings excellent spicy and exotic salty taste you never regret after consumed.  Is one of the best eatery in town you cannot aside found neither elsewhere.

Another will be their Black Vinegar Ginger Pork Trotter, also the restaurant’s top seller prepared on Tan’s family generation recipe.  Local fresh pork trotter prepared in 3 hours stewed with mixture of 6 vinegars selection, added into brown sugar and matured ginger slices, then served boiled in claypot will brings sweet & sour taste likes by the visitor.

Moreover, the owners also recommend their newly introduced Signature Beancurd which almost been seen on every single table in the restaurant.  Home made beancurd from the mixtures of water white beancurd with marinade fish paste or locally known “Yu Jiao”, salted eggs and onions, prepared after minutes steamed then served in deep fried and topped with homemade salad sauce will be one of the “Must Eat” menu in Tan Kee.

Nonetheless, their Claypot Rice Wine Chicken also among the signatures.  Feeded chicken drumsticks being selected boiled in claypot with 2-months home marinated rice wine, added into ginger shredded and black fungus shredded will be their in-house most wanted dish by their regulars you really cannot missed when stepped into the “Tan Kee Klang Bak Kut Teh” restaurant in Ipoh, Perak.
