In Malaysia, the nation that rich with seafoods will be one of the main reason why “Fish Ball” and “Yong Tao Foo” being favourites by not only locals, but also wanted by visitors when reached Malaysia.  Here in Ipoh, Perak we recognised a 30 years history fish ball specialized restaurant “Nam Fatt” still practised their homemade fish ball to the public since year 1986, by Foo family.

The local Perak originated Mr. Foo Hee Seng who born in Sungai Siput year 1958, was the founder and together with his lovely wife Madam Wendy Lam Foong Keng (born 1964) both are the immediate owners of the well known “Nam Fatt Fish Ball Noodle House” along Jalan Kampar, Ipoh introducing their home recipe in-house produced fish ball and Yong Tao Foo selections to the locals and visitors.

Foo Hee Seng who at his age of 57 years old recently, was grown up in a f&b career family reached Kampar, Perak at his 7 years old touched the industry since 1965 when helping parents who selling curry mee and bao in Kampar town.  While in year 1976 at his 18 of age been stepped into the industry running their family “Nam Fatt Kopitiam” reached 1984.

Afterwards, Hee Seng being touched and experienced the fish ball making from his Uncle Soo who in the field shortly.  In order to further his explosure in the industry, Hee Seng decided to reached Klang, Selangor to approach different field in the industry joined a western food restaurant began as kitchen trainee for about 2 years to sharpen his chefing experience.  With vision to go further and wishing to re-established his family career, in year 1986 grapped the market opportunity successfully established with wife Wendy Lam their “Nam Fatt Fish Ball Noodle House” in Ipoh, Perak serving Hee Seng’s home recipe fish ball and all Yong Tao Foo selections made from mixtures of fish and pork insided.

In Nam Fatt, the founder’s top recommended in menus will be their Teochew Tao Foo with West Gravy.  Marinated beancurd or locally known “Yong Tao Foo” prepared with water white beancurd inserted into their homemade insided mixtures of fish and pork, then deep fried and served poured onto their recipe gravy sauce made from 7 ingredients, and topped with sesame seeds brings exotic sweet, sour & spicy taste you must have a try when reached Ipoh.

Secondly will be their Yong Tau Foo in Soup Base, which soup prepared with whole day long boiled with Ikan Bilis, dried cuttlefish and pork bones that brings the best freshness eatery soup base.  Selections of their fresh homemade yong tao foo such as bittergourd, eggplant, beancurd, lady finger, red chilli etc all prepared insided with mixtures of their fish and pork paste in home spices you never regret after consumed.

Another will be their signature Beef Soup, which also one of their restaurant’s top seller among menus.  Local fresh beef lean meat, stomach and tendon selected, boiled 2 & half hours in pressure cooker then served mixed into radish or white carrot will be one of the best eatery found in town.  Recommended taken sided with a bowl of white rice or noodles you cannot aside.

Moreover, their Prawn Rolls which served in deep fried also among the signature almost seen on every single table.  Mixtures of fresh prawn, fish and water chesnut, wrapped in roll with dried beancurd skin then served after deep fried will be their regulars favourites in the noodle house.  Especially unforgetable when taken tipping onto their homemade “Chilli Sauce” provided.

 

Nonetheless, the owner’s also present their newly introduced Steamboat with free flow soup base in choices of clear bones soup, tom yam soup and herbal soup on customer’s demand.  All sided selections such as most wanted homemade fish ball, beef ball, Sar Gour (Fried Sengkuang), Foo Pei (Beancurd Skin), fish paste, clams, prawn, fresh oyster etc you cannot missed when stepped into the “Nam Fatt Fish Ball Noodle House” at Ipoh, Perak.
