“Assam Laksa”, which been years famously known by everyone which is one of the Penang’s local delicacy eatery favourites by locals and visitors when reached the heritage site Georgetown, Penang.  Here in the state of Selangor, we successfully found and recognised the 4-generation “Angcle Peoh-Penang Ayer Itam Market Asam Laksa” restaurant by the Ang’s family made their home recipes available into town since year 2012.

“Ayer Itam Asam Laksa”, which renowned by Malaysians was initially began half decade ago by Kar Bee’s grandmother late Madam Lee (founder) in year 1950 running her homemade assam laksa mobile stall at Ayer Itam, Penang.  In year 1960, son Ang Kok Peoh and brother started to touch the career helping mother at their food stall in Ayer Itam market at age of 7 and 9 years old respectively, as the 2nd generation travelling daily delivered mother’s home-cooked assam laksa from home to stall using bicycle.

With the great response from the market, and daily consumption increased enabled them since year 1977 began to improve by delivering daily assam laksa from home using lorry.  And being famously known by the locals as one of the best assam laksa in town named “Ayer Itam Asam Laksa”.  While Kok Peoh’s daughter Ang Kar Bee, as the 3rd generation touched the industry since year 1984 helping family, later fully stepped into the career at her 8 of age.

In order to expose further and continue introducing family’s assam laksa recipes thoroughly, added with foreseen the market opportunity in the industry allowed Kar Bee and husband Tham Kun Fook reached and running their noodle stall in Asia Cafe Foodcourt at SS15 Subang Jaya named “Penang Ayer Itam Market Asam Laksa” in year 2012 brought into their family’s generation recipes.  Then succeccfully established their very first owned assam laksa specialized restaurant in Klang, Selangor registered as “Angcle Peoh” Penang Ayer Itam Market Asam Laksa in year 2014.  Then another outlet in Kota Kemuning, Shah Alam after a year in 2015.

In this Ayer Itam “Angcle Peoh” restaurant, the owner’s first top recommended in menus surely will be their 4-generation grandmother’s 65 years history recipe Ayer Itam Market Assam Laksa.  Soup base boiled at least 3 hours with Sardin Fish, served mixed with boil-cooked round rice made noodles, topped with Sardin Fish meats, onions shredded, mint leafs, cucumber shredded, ginger flower and chillies will be a complete bowl of well-known “Ayer Itam Asam Laksa” brings sour, sweet & slight spicy taste you can now taste in Selangor.

Secondly will be their home recipe Fried Kueh Teow or locally known “Char Kueh Teow” made with Penang’s local and owner Tham family’s recipes combination.  Rice made flat noodles fried mixed into prawn, crockles, spring onions, beansprouts, garlic and either with chicken or duck egg brings exotic eatery taste you must try when reached “Angcle Peoh” eating house.

Another will be their Hokkien Prawn Noodles, which also among the Penang’s local delicacy selection.  Soup base boiled 1&half hours with prawn’s head, served mixed with beansprouts, kangkong veges, pork slices, boiled egg and topped with fresh prawn & deep fried onions taken tipping with their 7 ingredients sambal provided brings the best in town you cannot aside.

Nonetheless, the owners also taken the opportunity to introduce their in-house Hokkien Fried Noodles which among the restaurant’s signature.  Round flour noodles served cooked with their in-house 4 hours boiled shrimp soup base, added into soy sauce and pepper, mixed into veges, shrimp, pork slice, deep fried pork oil cubes and deep fried onions taken sided with sambal with lime brings sour, sweet & spicy taste you cannot missed when stepped into this “Angcle Peoh” Penang Ayer Itam Market Asam Laksa restaurants in Selangor.
