“Charcoal Roasted” or somehow known Hong Kong (Cantonese) Roasted by the locals is one of the Cantonese’s traditional eatery taken since thousand years ago originated from China being nowadays widely exposed into other asian countries including the lion city Singapore.  Here in town, we found and being recognised one of the best roasted corner “Charcoal Roasted Rice” running by both more than 30 years experience Mr. Leong and Mr. Goh, still prepared their roasted mix using charcoal.

The Singaporeans Mr. Leong Mun Yew who born in year 1966, and Mr. Goh Heng Tho (born 1962) both were the initial founders and immediate owners of this recommended “Charcoal Roasted Rice” cantonese roasted mix corner at Clementi 442 introducing and serving all their in-house charcoal roasted pork, duck and chicken selections to the locals and visitors on home recipes since year 2012.

Mr. Leong Mun Yew who at his age of 51 years old recently, initially stepped into the f&b industry since his 20th of age where he touched the cantonese roasted began as a kitchen trainee in Anson Hotel for about 2 years in Singapore before further his exposure in the career running among hawker centres under-employed ends with 30 years experience in the field.

While Mr. Goh Heng Tho who at his 55th of age currently started his f&b career in year 1984 at his 23rd years old began as kitchen helper in Equatorial Hotel Singapore practising chinese cuisine, later positioned as cuisine chef then also further strengthen his career running among local’s hawker centres where he met Mun Yew when both under-employed in a charcoal roasted stall as colleague given them an opportunity to bodied-up and established their very owned roasted mix foodstall in year 2012 at Clementi 448 named “Charcoal Roasted Rice”.  Then in year 2015 moved to better environment in Clementi 442 continue presenting all their signature charcoal roasted mix menus to the public.

In this Charcoal Roasted Rice (Clementi 442), the owners Mun Yew and Heng Tho’s very first top recommended among menus will be their Roasted Duck which wholly prepared in-house using charcoal roasted.  Duck with net weight about 2.6kg commonly selected, marinated with 5 ingredients recipe overnight, then followed by 6-7 hours dried-up, finally served after 40 minutes roasted above charcoal brings authentic cantonese roasted duck you must try.  Especially taken with their home sauce made from mixtures of original sauce abstracted from the roasting added into another few home recipe sauce mixture brings sour, sweet & salty taste neither found better elsewhere.

Moreover, their Roasted Pork or locally known “Char Siew”, which is the stall’s daily top seller from the beginning.  Also using belly pork marinated at least few hours with their 4 ingredients mixture recipe, then roast for about half an hour coated with another prepared in-house sauce made from 9 ingredients including rock sugar during the roasting process brings excellent exotic sweet in taste and chewing in bites to be the best in town.
