Talking about “Hainanese Chicken Rice”, should everyone’s favourite towards “WenChang Chicken” or “MenCheong Chicken” traditional generations Hainanese’s eatery since decade, currently being one of our country’s local delicacies not only wanted by locals, but also visitors. Late Mr. Ho Kee Fatt (1914-1993), who originated from Hainan (WenChang) China, together with his son Ricky Ho Soi Ling (born 1948) both began their very first “Ho Fatt” chicken rice stall in a coffee house at Beaufort, Sabah in year 1963 introducing their traditional home recipe hainanese chicken rice to the locals. Ricky Ho who spent his 15 years exposed in the field reached Tawau, Sabah in year 1978 at his age of 30th started his very own “Ho Kee” chicken rice stall continue his journey in the career, running together with his lovely wife late Madam Foo Gi Lin. Having their very first chicken rice specialise shop after another 9 years.

While Ricky’s son Nicholas Ho Kuen Hau (born 1987), as 3rd generation, touched the family’s career at his 15th of age helping parents. Later on fully stepped into the f&b industry running another chicken rice outlet stall in Tawau, Sabah at his 17th. In year 2007, they successfully established their chicken rice house at Kelombong, Kota Kinabalu (Sabah) in year 2007 officially named “Ho Kee Hainanese Chicken Rice” to further their exposure in the career. Then another outlet at Lintas, Kota Kinabalu in year 2018.

In order to satisfy his regular visitors, and to ensure that his Ho Kee’s is all the while serving the best and the genuine Hainanese chicken rice to the public. Ricky Ho himself been stepped back to his hometown in WenChang, Hainan city in China in year 2012 to confirm his home recipe hainanese chicken rice are prepared on generations passed onto recipes. Also recently being handed over the family’s career & responsibility to his son Nicholas Ho to continue serving the market in better manner.

In Ho Kee Hainanese Chicken Rice, the owner’s first top recommended in menus surely will be their “WenChang Hainanese Boiled Chicken”.
