The founder cum first owner Alex Chan Cheng Fatt or known Chef Alex, who at his age of 57 years old currently been initially touched the f&b industry since his age of 13th began as part-time helper then kitchen trainee during his education period at hometown Karak, Pahang. Later-on fully stepped into the field positioned as a chef at 18th of age in year 1981. In order to further his exposure in the career, Alex Chan also been reached Singapore in year 1983 stayed about 10 years there as Executive Chef then continued expose to Shanghai, China for another few years having his patients in the industry all the while experienced in the Chinese Cuisine thoroughly before returned to Karak at his 34th in year 1997.

With experiences & recipes on-hand, added with vision to have his own eating house locally and foreseeing the market opportunity in the f&b industry especially on the chinese cuisine eateries enabled Alex Chan decided then successfully established his very first owned Chinese Cuisine Eating House officially named the “Restoran Mau Kee” along Jalan Besar, Karak in year 1998 joined by wife Serene Chong introducing their signatures to the public. While son Kelvin Chan who all the while having interest in their family’s career touched the field at his 16th of age, and today being taken up the responsibility to continue the career. Finally being recognised among the best in town by the F&B E-Media for the year 2020 in the east coast nation.

In this Restoran Mau Kee, the owners’ very first top recommended in menus will be their famous “Steamed River CatFish” which most wanted by the locals all the while. Local fresh water (river) CatFish with weight of about 1kg or above commonly selected, fresh steamed for about 6-7 minutes in-house with gingers & spring onions, then served with their home-mixed soy sauce mixtures poured onto and finally toppings of celery leaves & fried garlic oil will brings wonderful fish’s freshness taste and the fish meat’s bites texture into mouth that you must have a try when reached Karak, Pahang.
