One of the seafood paradise in South Malaysia, the Johor Bahru attracted lots of Singaporeans and tourists, is one of the tourism factor to strengthen the local market purchasing power.  The Pontian origin Mr. Tan Boon Chuan who born in year 1964 was the founder and immediate owner of the well known “Restoran Thong Yen” introducing local chinese cuisine seafood recipe to the public, together with lovely wife Madam Tan who originated from Muar operating their career in Johor Bahru.

Tan Boon Chuan who with his age of 50 years old recently, is a 31 years Gas Supplier in Johor still running currently, stepped into the food and beverage industry in year 2008 grapped an opportunity bodied-up with an experienced chef established their chinese cuisine corner in ‘Kimdo Restaurant’ at Taman Sentosa, Johor Bahru serving variety recipe menu, famous with their fresh seafood selection and rice noodle soup also locally known as ‘Mee Tai Mak’.

Subsequent to Tan’s highly expectation on the quality of all raw materials and freshness of seafood, also to provide more comfortable environment to customers, and the great response from the locals and visitors enabled him to expose further in year 2013 established his very first and owned Chinese & Seafood Cuisine Restaurant named “Restoran Thong Yen” with 2-storey at Taman Melodies, Johor.  Most of their seafood travelled all the way from Pontian and Muar to ensure the quality and freshness.  Three Main Chef with a Chief Chef operating the kitchen and also upgraded every single food presentation served on table.  Catering service up to 200 pax also oftenly provided to serve clients in better manner and to brings convenience to their clients.

In the restaurant, the top recommended by founder Mr. Tan will be their Little Wok Lou Shu Fan which rice noodle or locally called ‘Mee Tai Mak’ boiled in a metal pot with flame under it in order to keep warm and maintaining the exotic taste of the soup base which boiled for hours, served mixed topped with home recipe minced pork brings the best ‘Mee Tai Mak Soup’ in town.  Secondly will need to try their Golden Crab which using more than 700gm deep sea meat crab cooked with their Chef’s secret recipe sauce ingredients you will never regret after consumed.  Another signature will be the Roasted Black Pork Spare Ribs which spare ribs imported, marinated after cleaning then raw roasted with their home recipe sauce taste sweet and slight sour brings the perfect match and best meat texture when bites.

Another new creation in town by Tan’s team, also one of the signature menu most wanted by regulars and visitors will be Deep Fried Crispy Squid which using local white squid, deep fried with their secret mixture recipe of flur and ingredients brings the crispy and exotic taste you cannot missed when reached Johor Bahru.  For those who like pork must try their recommended All Spice Braised Pork Belly which will served sided with plain chinese pao or called ‘Man Tou’.  Slice of their hours braised pork belly placed in between plain man tou before big bites into mouth will be the best eatery.  Moreover, their Thong Yen Fried Mee Hun topped with fresh prawn and the Asam Steamed Fish with in-house home recipe asam paste also among the recommended in “Restoran Thong Yen”.
