The “Shunka” Japanese Restaurant Group exposed widely along North Malaysia with eight outlets were found to be the only Japanese restaurants in our nation not serving “Sushi” selection, also the reason towards their succeed will step into South Malaysia in the coming year.

Both local Penang originated Mr. Edisson Eing Kar Tat who born in year 1985 and Mr. Elven Tan Chin Long who born 1984 were the founders of the “Shunka” Japanese Restaurants few years ago.  Then joined by Mr. Lim Yee Chean from Perak (born 1986), are the 3 recent owners of the group, introducing their authentic Japanese home recipe selections to the public.

Edisson Eing who with his age of 29 years old currently, who initially in Event Management Industry, is a Japanese food expert eater extremely interested in Japanese Cuisine since his college life in Kuala Lumpur stepped into the food industry in year 2010 at his age of 25 after met his partner Elven Tan in Penang.  Both with the mission to have their own Japanese restaurant and to serve the locals on authentic Japanese menus in affordable charges allowed them to start their career with no doubts.

While Elven Tan who with his age of 30 years old recently, also the “Shunka” Group Main Chef, been stepped into the industry touched Japanese Cuisine since year 2006 spent 5 years in Japan itself began as kitchen helper experienced severals field such in sushi, beverage, ramen, roasted stick and main course, became the 2nd Chef in a local famous group of restaurant which having more than hundred outlets in Japan.  Later on in year 2010 after returned to hometown been took over a cafe named “Med Cafe” at Kampung Baru Bukit Mertajam, where he met up Edisson Eing began their partnership.  Later on converted and established their first very owned Japanese restaurant named “Shunka”.

Subsequent to the great response from the public enabled them to expand into another outlet at Parit Buntar, Perak in the same year.  Then third at Kampar, Perak where Lim Yee Chean joined Edisson and Elven bodiep-up formed the group of “Shunka” in year 2011.  Another 5 outlets in Kedah and Penang in three years.

According to the founder, “Shunka” serving menus in 3 major categories in Cuisine, Matcha and Sake which are traditional generation authentic series in Japanese food.  Cuisine includes of Sashimi, Snacks, Appertizer, Soup, Main Course, Bento and etc.  Among the top recommended in the restaurant will be their Japanese Cheese Omelet by Main Chef Elven.  Its a very traditional food taken in Japan prepared using chopstick level-by-level rolled egg with cheese insided, then served topped with Japanese mayonnaise you must try, also the restaurant’s top selling menu.

Secondly will be their Grilled Squid with Butter in Japanese recipe.  Using fresh squid imported from Japan grilled with butter and their secret 2 ingredients sause mixture bring the exotic taste especially taken tipping with mayonnaise and green onions shredded.  Another will be the Kimchi Steamboat introduced in home recipe by their Main Chef cum Founder.  Homemade Japanese Kimchi by Elven mixed into their in-house soup base then boiled with fresh seafoods and veges will be one of the best eatery in town you never regret after consumed.

Besides, their Japanese Omelet Noodle or known ‘Omuyaki Soba’ also among the signature.  Traditional Japanese fried Ramen wrapped with egg then topped with mayonnaise and their home sweet sause you cannot missed.

While in Matcha or locally known Green Tea will be a very historic and traditional beverage in Japan prepared then served either in drinks or desserts.  In “Shunka”, the recommended by founder will be their top selling Magic Matcha or called ‘Matcha Latte’ served in ice-blended from green tea then top sided with ice cude made purely from green tea to maintain the freshness and taste, only can be found in “Shunka” restaurant.

Japanese favourites Sake, kind of Japan’s traditional light alcohol drinks also being introduced in this restaurant in options of pure Sake, Shochu and Fruit Shocyu.  Usually served in set sided with side dishes like roasted stick and some deep fried eatery, is a traditional eatery by Japanese since decade ago you can have a try when stepped into “Shunka” Japanese Restaurant.
