In the famously known “raining town” the Taiping, Perak we found and recognised the “Jing Yik Man Tang Seafood Restaurant” carried by Chef Ong who holding more than 25 years experience in chefing, presenting his chinese and seafood cuisines under a roof to the public, and being well known as one of the best in town.
The local Taiping originated Mr. Ong Choon Aik who born in year 1971, was the founder and together with wife Ms. Grace Goh Liak See (born 1977) are the recent owners of the “Jing Yik Man Tang Seafood Restaurant” in Taiping downtown introducing their various exotic classic eateries selections to the locals and visitors along Jalan Maharaja Rela.
Ong Choon Aik or known Chef Ong who at his age of 44 years old currently, having great interest in eatery and chefing initially stepped into the f&b industry since year 1987 at his age of only 16 in hometown Taiping been recruited into the “Soon Soon Lai Restaurant” began as kitchen trainee for a year. Then reached Singapore in year 1988 to further his explosure, joined the chinese cuisine restaurant as assistant chef in the “Cane Hill Hotel” exposed few years there to sharpen his profession.
While in year 1992, Chef Ong returned to Taiping running his very 1st air-cond chinese cuisine restaurant “Fang Yuan Seafood Restaurant”(pronouns) for about 6 years untill 1998, ended consequence to the market downturn. Year 2001 again travelled to Singapore to expose, worked under-employed stayed another 8 years there.
Year 2009 successfully established the “Jing Yik Man Tang Seafood Restaurant” in Taiping, with assistance by wife Grace Goh. Started with a small air-cond indoor restaurant, then in year 2011 expanded into wider floor space running untill recent. Also recognised as one of the best restaurant in town year 2015 by the Malaysiabest.my e-media.
In this seafood restaurant, the founder Chef Ong’s top recommended in menus will be the Curry Tail Shark, which is one of the Taiping locals favourites. Local fresh sea tail shark fish selected stir with their homemade curry paste recipes will brings exotic taste you must try when reached Taiping, Perak. Served mixed into eggplants and lady fingers will be one of the best eatery in town.
Secondly will be their Signature “Mother Steamed” White Pomfret or locally known “Ma Ji Steamed Fish”. Fresh sea white pomfret fish being cleaned, then steamed minutes with poured onto their in-house garlic ginger paste sauce brings unbelievable freshness and exotic eatery you never regret after tasted.
Another will be the founder’s recipe Golden Beancurd, which prepared with homemade beancurd made in-house. Steamed beancurd made from mixtures of egg and soy milk, then deep fried in cutted cubes, served poured onto Chef Ong’s pumpkin sauce and topped with winter cucumber slices will be among the top seller in the restaurant.
Moreover, the Stewed Pork Belly or locally known “Dong Po Yuk” also among their recommended. Fresh local pork belly marinated with recipes, stewed hours with home sauce prepared, steamed hours then served sided with deep fried and steamed bun will be a classic dish you cannot aside in the restaurant.
Nonetheless, the owner also introduced their Stir Fried Season Beans with dried shrimp and minced pork meat. And the western Salad Prawn using sea “Ming Prawn” deep fried then served poured onto recipe salad sauce, you cannot missed when stepped into the “Jing Yik Man Tang Seafood Restaurant” at Taiping, Perak.
