Being years famously known by the world that Taiping, Perak not only rich with “Rain” but also one of the Malaysia’s richest town with their local fresh sea foods especially in “Matang”. Also the origin for the nation’s claypot seafood porridge which attracted most of the visitors when reached the North Malaysia. Here, we found one of the best “Fu Man Lau” seafood restaurant carried by Yeoh and wife into 7 years in Matang, Taiping.
The Taiping originated Mr. Yeoh Thong Ghee who born in year 1986, was the founder and together with wife Ms. Lim Chooi Hai (born 1986) who is Matang local, are the recent owners of the “Fu Man Lau Seafood Restaurant” introducing their home recipe claypot seafood porridge and various seafood cuisines to the locals and visitors at Matang Jambu, Taiping since year 2008.
Yeoh Thong Ghee who at his age of 29 years old currently, since kids having great interest in eatery and chefing initially touched the food industry at his age of only12 years old helping father, who was a roasted pork seller since 1970s, at their family food stall in “Wan Li Xiang Kopitiam”(pronouns) at Taiping oldtown during his school off untill year 2007. Afterwards Thong Ghee reached Singapore joined the Food Supplies Industry for about a year to further expose his experience in food industry.
While in year 2008 Thong Ghee returned to hometown Taiping, with his vision to have his own restaurant, great interest in the industry and experience hold enabled him successfully established his very 1st own seafood restaurant officially registered as “Fu Man Lau Seafood Restaurant” at Matang, Taiping with wife assistance presenting all his home recipes to the visitors, emphasising their Matang local’s seafoods freshness and authentic taste under a roof.
In Fu Man Lau, the founder’s first top recommended in menus surely will be their Claypot Seafood Porridge which served in Teoh Chew style, also the Matang local famous eatery favourites by visitors around the world. Soup base boiled 3 hours with pork bones, mixed into cooked white rice, boiled in claypot with fresh local white pomfret fish, sea prawn and crab brings the unbelievable seafood freshness you must taste when reached Taiping, Perak. Served topped with onions leaves shredded, poured onto fried onions oil and insided mixed with some golden mushroom stick also their home recipes most wanted by their regulars.
Secondly will be their Home Soup Steamed Lala, is one of their restaurant’s signature menu among recommended. Home recipe soup base boiled an hour with pork bones and few their in-house recipes, poured onto fresh local Lala clams steamed for about 5 minutes, then served topped with ginger shredded, chillies shredded and dried chillies brings exotic spicy taste and the Lala freshness itself you never regret after tasted.
Moreover, one of the Taiping local famous eatery Deep Fried Fish or locally known “Cha Yu Chai” also being introduced by the owner here. Small sea fish named by the locals “Ji Nya Hu” being selected, cleaned then deep fried without marinade brings very fresh and crispy in bites. Is one of the best in town you cannot aside.
