Really cannot believe that most of the authentic and well known recognised best chinese restaurants are commonly found in cities of a nation.  But here in a town of Perak, the Tanjung Malim which located at border of states Selangor and Perak we found to be recognised one of the best and highly famous not only known by locals but also visitors, the “Zheng Yeong” running by an experienced and certified Chef Low since 1990s.

The Perak originated Mr. Low Kew Pin who born in year 1964 was the founder, together with his wife Ms. Lee Poh Yeng (born 1968) are the initial and immediate owners of the “Restaurant Zheng Yeong” chinese & seafood eating house at Tanjung Malim, Perak introducing all their Chef Low’s authentic home recipes to the public under a roof.

Low Kew Pin or famously known Chef Low, having more than 35 years chefing experiences, who also the restaurant’s chief chef, at his age of 51 years old recently initially touched the industry at his age of 13 in 1977 began as waiter.  Then after a year, fully stepped into the career at Tanjung Malim old township as kitchen trainee for another few years before going overseas to further his profession.

In year 1982 at his 18, Chef Low reached German continue his exposure in the chinese cuisine stayed 11 years there, where he really sharpen and strengthen his career in the industry.  As today, Chef Low is not only a well known recognised chef in nations, but awarded several chefing competition and being upgraded to judge years ago.  Was being recognised as Professional Gourmet in the Gourmet Club Cordon Noir 2014, and certified as Malaysian “Chef Rotisseur” by the world’s highest chefing body “France Chef Association” in year 2014.

Back in year 1993 after returned to home town, Chef Low established his very owned and 1st restaurant named “Restaurant Zheng Yeong” at Tanjung Malim, being assisted by wife Poh Yeng.  Subsequent to the great response from visitors and the recognitions he had, enabled Chef Low to further expand his restaurant fitting up about 100 tables serves under more wider premise in year 2015 at Taman Intan Setia 2, Tanjung Malim. In Zheng Yeong, the founder’s top recommended in menus will be the Spicy River Prawn, which is one of their signature.  Wildlife river prawn selected by chef, seconds stir over boiled-oil, prepared poured onto their fully homemade sour & spicy sauce from 5 ingredients mixture and served sided with bread slices brings very exotic eatery you must try when reached Tanjung Malim.

Secondly will be their Home Sauce Pork Belly, also among Chef Low’s signature.  Local fresh pork belly prepared in cutted cubes, deep fried then stir fried seconds with their in-house sauce made from 8 recipes brings sweet and exotic taste you never regret after consumed.  Especially the crispy deep fried pork belly’s texture in bites you need to experience.

Another will be their wonderfull Steamed River Fish, which without any recipes neither to brings the 100% fully fish freshness.  Among recommended will be the wildlife river “Munyalan” fish or locally known fruit fish.  The fish meat’s texture itself and the taste freshness brought out originally you surely cannot aside.

Moreover, at vegetable corner, you must taste their Organic Salad prepared mixed with green veges, sengkuang, japanese cucumber, purple cabbage etc, then topped with prawn egg will be one of the best vege salad in town.  100% organic vegetables commonly selected to presents.

Nonetheless, the founder Chef Low also introduced his very owned “Rich Man” Fried Rice which only in Zheng Yeong.  This special signature fried rice prepared mixed with dried scallop, crab meat, veges, prawn egg, salted egg yolk etc which their regulars cannot missed when stepped into the “Restaurant Zheng Yeong” at Tanjung Malim, Perak.

Subsequent to the great personal recognition on Chef Low and the response from Restaurant Zheng Yeong’s visitors from years, being visited by the world’s famous recognised Chef & Culinary Consultant Mr. Martin Yan, who also the Host of “Yan Can Cook” in July 2015, and being certified as the best restaurant in Tanjung Malim, Perak.
