TASTE THE “TIEN TIEN LAI” WANTAN NOODLES & HOMEMADE FISH BALL BY EDWIN COUPLE AT BAKAWALI
“Wantan Mee” famously known and favourites by the local Malaysians since years ago, is such egg-made noodles which served topped with roasted pork and pork dumpling taken in a set. Also been known “Tok-Tok Mee” in decade ago, which originated from China hundred years ago. Here in Johor, we found and being recognised one of the homemade wantan mee eating house “Tien Tien Lai” which introducing their home recipes to the public.
The local Johorean Mr. Edwin Yong Wen Lin who born in year 1984, was the founder and together with wife Ms. Xia Huan (born 1983) both are the recent owners of the recommended noodle house “Tien Tien Lai Kopitiam” presenting their traditional authentic wantan mee, handmade fish ball and pork dumpling to the locals at Taman Johor Jaya in specialized restaurant since 2015.
Edwin Yong who at his age of only 32 years old currently, was formerly an Optician initially stepped into the f&b industry at his age of 25 running a noodle food stall at Taman Pelangi, Johor Bharu named “Pelangi Kids”, where his wife Xia Huan began to joined and assisting for about 3 years, serving their recipe wantan noodles.
Then in year 2012, due to positive market response and Edwin’s vision to expose further in the career allowed this couple to established their 2nd food stall along Jalan Bakawali, Johor reached year 2015. Also where they began to introduce Xia Huan’s handmade fish ball to the locals.
While in mid 2015, Edwin Yong successfully established his very first noodle house restaurant “Tien Tien Lai Kopitiam” in order to gather his exposure in the field and hold the market strengthenly at Taman Johor Jaya (recent location) fully assisted by wife to continue presenting their famous wantan mee selections, pork dumpling and fish ball and being recognised as one of the best in year 2016 in Johor.
Surely in Tien Tien Lai Kopitiam, the founder Edwin’s first recommended in menus will be their Handmade Fish Ball. Homemade fish paste prepared from yellow tail fish, handmade into pieces by Xia Huan then served boil-cooked in their in-house an hour boiled soup base with yellow beans, pork bones and ikan bilis brings the best tasty soup taste and fish ball bites texture you must try when reached Johor.
Secondly will be their Chicken Feet Noodles, which also among the restaurant’s daily top seller selection. Cleaned chicken feets prepared in deep fried, then stewed 3 hours in slow pressure cooker with more than 10 ingredients mixture, added into mushroom and finally served topped onto their egg-made noodles you will never regret after tasted.
Another top famous presented by the owners will be their Traditional Wantan Noodles which served either in soup or dry kon lou (white or black) on customer’s request. Homemade noodles boil-cooked personally by the founder Edwin to maintain the noodle’s texture and taste will be served topped with roasted pork (char siew) and sided with bowl of their homemade pork dumpling (wantan) will be the perfect set of “wantan mee” you cannot aside.
Moreover, as side order or for additional menu, Edwin and wife also taken the opportunity to introduce their Handmade Prawn Dumpling which recently most wanted by their regulars which prepared in mixtures of pork and fresh prawn wrapped in flour-made wrapper, then served in boil-cooked you cannot missed when stepped into this “Tien Tien Lai Kopitiam” noodle house at Jalan Bakawali, Johor Bharu.

Excellent. I love it. But it can get quite disturbing cuz Edwin slams his boiling pot lid very loudly. Really hard.. I think the lid goes thru serious wear n tear.. LOL. Don’t bring young children or babies. They wil be traumatised. Edwin is not angry or anything.. Just his style. Workers are cheerful..
