MUST TASTE CHINESE CUISINE RESTAURANT “JIA JIA” IN JOHOR BAHRU

Nowadays, most of the chinese cuisine restaurants brought into not only those authentic chinese cuisine recipes the market, but also introducing and emphasising seafoods selection especially in the south part of nation to meet the market demand. Here in Johor Bahru, we have successfully discovered and recognised one of the best chinese cuisine restaurants “Jia Jia” led by two partners Mr. Eng and Ms. Kek.

Mr. Eng Wen Keong and Ms. Kek Lee Ling are the owners and founders of “Restoran Jia Jia”. they have been operating the restaurant together since 2008 and it has received positive response from the customers.

Mr. Eng Wen Keong was born in 1975 at Segamat, Johor. He first stepped into the F&B industry when he was 18 years old, working as a trainee in a restaurant. His passion in food had led him into the F&B industry. When he was 20 years old, he decided to further his career in F&B industry in Singapore. After working in Singapore for at least 13 years, having enough confidence and experience, he established his very first own “Jia Jia Restaurant” in Taman Bukit Indah, Johor Bahru.

Ms. Kek Lee Ling was born in 1977 at Batu Pahat. She is the partner of Mr. Eng and they met with each other at Singapore. She first stepped into the F&B industry in 2012 (35 years old), providing support to her partner in “Restoran Jia Jia”. She has been an important figure in this restaurant and her support is definitely important to Mr. Eng.

The first recommended food is their “Curry Fishhead”. The curry paste requires at least 10 ingredients to prepare and the main ingredients include garlic, onion, shrimp paste, chilies, shrimp, curry powder, lemongrass and ginger. The paste is cooked and fried for at least one hour before the aroma of the paste exists. The fresh fish is then steamed together with the curry for 7 minutes along with toppings such as ladies’ fingers and long beans and it is ready to be served. The curry is not spicy, which is suitable for all customers and the fresh fish has a smooth, fresh, sweet and savoury when eaten together with the curry.

The second recommended food is “Hakka Braised Pork”. The main ingredients include pork belly, pickled mustard (sweet and salty type), oil and soy sauce. The process of preparing this dish include boiling, frying and steaming and takes around 5-6 hours to prepare it. The sweet and savoury pork has a soft and melts instantly into the mouth when tasted and bitten.

Besides that, the owners also recommended their “Fried Chicken Wing”. Everyday, the fresh chicken wings are marinated with garlic, wine, fermented tofu and flour. This marinating process needs at least 1.5 hours and after that the chicken are fried for 10 minutes. The crispy and savoury chicken wings have become one of the customers favourite.

The fourth recommended food is “Bitter gourd Fishhead”. The three main ingredients are bitter gourd, fishhead and bean paste. They are first fried for some time and finally steamed for 3-5 minutes and it is ready to be served. The fresh and bitter bitter gourd, fresh and sweet fishhead, and savoury bean paste make a perfect dish for every customer.

Last but not least, the owners also recommended their “Salted Fish Gai Lan”. The Gai lan and salted fish are fried together for several minutes and it is complete. The fresh gai lan when mixed with salted fish has a salty and sweet taste at the same time.
