MUST TASTE VIETNAMESE FOOD “HANOI CAFE” AT JOHOR BAHRU

Vietnamese food has a long tradition and it has become a recent trend in Malaysia. As the culture of the Vietnam has grown and expanded, people have become more acceptable towards the Vietnamese food. Here in Johor Bahru, we have successfully discovered and recognised one of the most authentic Vietnamese cafe “Hanoi Cafe”, serving all the authentic Vietnamese food to the customers.

Mr. Sim Hoi Lek and Ms. Bui Thi Kim Ba (Jenny Kim) are the owners and founders of “Hanoi Cafe”. together they have been operating this cafe since 2014 and it has received positive response from the customers.

Mr. Peter Sim Hoi Lek was born in 1960 at Desaru, Johor. He first stepped into the F&B industry when he was 54 years old. He had no prior experience in F&B infustry and it was the passion in food that he had that led him to opening the “Hanoi Cafe”. He was fascinated with the Vietnamese food during the trip to Vietnam and he wished to let more people know more about Vietnamese food in Malaysia. In 2014, together with Ms. Jenny Kim, they decided to establish and operate their own Vietnamese cafe in Johor Bahru.

Ms. Bui Thi Kim Ba (Jenny Kim) was born in 1985 at Vietnam. She is one of the owners and founders of this Vietnamese cafe, “Hanoi Cafe”. she first stepped into the F&B industry when she was 29 years old. Having confidence in her native food, together with Mr. Peter, they decided to open the “Hanoi Cafe” in 2014 at Johor Bahru.

The first recommended food in Hanoi Cafe is “Selected Beef Thin Kway Teow”. The owners have used more than 5 ingredients to prepare the soup base. The main ingredients used are beef bone and herbs to enhance the flavour of the soup. The soup base needs to be cooked for 24 hours before it is ready to be served. The soup is poured into the cooked kway teow and then topped with some sliced beef and onions. The taste of the soup is fresh and savoury and contains mild herbal flavour and the texture of the noodles is soft, smooth and “Q”.

The second recommended food is “Roasted Pork Bread Roll”. This homemade bread is filled with vegetables, chilies and roasted pork. As for the “Vietnamese Ham Bread Roll”, ham is used instead of roasted pork. The roasted pork has a savoury and juicy when bitten and the texture of the pork is soft and smooth. The marinated pork using Vietnamese ingredients gives a strong roasted flavour and it is one of the signature food in “Hanoi Cafe”.

Besides that, the owners also recommended their “Vietnamese Cold Roll”. All the ingredients are imported from Vietnam because the owners wished to preserve the original taste of the food. Vegetables, rice noodles, shrimp and meat are all wrapped together with the popiah skin. This roll is best eaten with their sour and spicy homemade sauce to increase the flavour of the roll. The texture of the roll is soft and juicy and the taste is sour and spicy when tasted along with the sauce.

Hanoi Cafe also has its top favourite “Roasted Pork Ribs”. The pork is marinated overnight and only roasted for some time before it is ready to be served. Some tomatoes, cucumber and vegetables are added as side dish. The strong Vietnamese BBQ pork ribs have a crispy and juicy texture. This roasted pork ribs is best dipped with their homemade spicy sauce.

The fifth recommended food is “Grilled Pork Chop with Rice”. The delicious grilled pork chop is topped with some onions and the rice is topped with a fried egg. Some tomatoes and cucumber slice are added to become more presentable. This signature grilled pork chop has become one of the customers’ top favourite.

Vietnamese steamboat or hotpot has also been introduced in Hanoi Cafe. There are two main selections, “Ca Keo Fish Hot Pot” and “Spicy Soup Seafood”. As for the Spicy Soup Seafood, the taste is sour and spicy and this Vietnamese style Hot Pot has different kind of seafood and customers who prefer to have spicy hot pot can definitely have this selection.
