Ms. Connie Thong Yat Cheng who is the founder and recently the owner of the “Restoran Top Bak Kut Teh” have finally brings her husband’s dreams come in realistic with aids by her experienced chef brother.
Connie who formerly a professional hair stylist and owner of a hair studio stepped into the food and beverage industry in the year 2008 with her husband. Her husband who formerly a public transport driver holding his home made prawn mee and bak kut teh recipe found his great interest in f&b industry quit his career and established his 1st food stall in the ‘Ming Yang Restaurant’ at Kuchai Lama, Kuala Lumpur selling his home made prawn mee recipe in the year 2008 and hoping to have his own bak kut teh business in the future. But after her husband passing she continue to expose her husband wish then in the year 2011, Connie accompany by her younger brother named ‘Ah Kin’ who has more than 20 years experience in cooking chef successfully established their very 1st bak kut teh restaurant known “Restoran Top Bak Kut Teh” not only presenting his husband bak kut teh recipe but also serving lots of Ah Kin’s own recipe dishes in their menu.
Firstly, their home made teow chew style bak kut teh soup and dry bak kut teh will be the main menu introduced in the restaurant. According to Connie, the secret recipe in their soup base will be the mixture of 2 most important chinese herbal such ‘tong gui’ and ‘quen gong’ with at least 2 hours boiled. Other, the deep fried yam topped with ‘gong pou chicken ball meat’ also the top recommended in the restaurant. Somemore, the ‘Top Tau Foo’ mixture with ginger slice, carrot, minced meat, Holland beans and black jelly will be one of their top selling. About seafood, the Curry Fish Head and Ginger Paste Steamed ‘Song Fish’ head or Ginger Clear Steamed Talapia Fish also the customers like. The last but not least will be Connie’s grandmother recipe on the Ginger Stewed Pork Leg which taste sour, sweet and slight spicy to suit the locals favourite. For those who are vegitarians, Ah Kin’s mixed fried vegetables using more than 5 vege to be the best choice in the bak kut teh restaurant.
