One of the South nation favourites eatery “Fish Head Pot” nowadays frequently taken by the Northern, and also one of the most wanted by locals and visitors especially in Penang and Perak.  Here in Ipoh, Perak we found to recognise one of the best eating house “CJ Hot Pot Restaurant” serving their founder’s home recipe fish head pot by Chan Jie.

The local originated Madam Tan Sooi Chan who born in year 1962 was the founder, recently together with daughter Ms. Michelle Teo Li Yin (born 1986) and son-in-law Mr. Goo Chee Keong (born 1982) are the owners of the well known “CJ Hot Pot Restaurant” presenting their various chinese & seafood cuisines and the signature fish head mix pot to the public under a roof.

Founder Madam Tan or known ‘Chan Jie’ who at her age of 53 years old currently, was a Hair Stylist, who having great interest in eatery and chefing initially stepped into the f&b industry since year 2002 at her 40 of age running her very first and owned seafood chinese cuisines restaurant at Menglembu, Ipoh named “Hau Yee Kee Restaurant” where her fish head pot recipe began as one among in menus.

While in year 2008, Chan Jie moved to Jalan Yang Kalsom, Ipoh Newtown further her explosure in the career continue serving all her home recipe menus to the locals in “Chan Jie Restaurant” reached 2013.  Subsequent to the great response from visitors on her fish head mix pot, and with the supports & assistance from daughter Michelle Teo and son-in-law Chee Keong, who came back from Singapore, enabled Chan Jie successfully established her Fish Head Pot specialize restaurant in year 2014 along Jalan Medan Ipoh, Perak officially named “CJ Hot Pot Restaurant”.

In this restaurant, the owners’ top recommended in menus surely will be their top seller Fish Head Pot which on founder Chan Jie’s home recipe.  Soup base boiled 3 hours insided with pork bones, dried beancurd skin, veges and their home 8 ingredients mixture brings exotic taste you must try.  Served boiling in pot mixed into fresh or deep fried grouper fish head, water beancurd, yam, tomato, mushroom stick, cabbage, dried chillies and pepper seeds will be their visitors most wanted.

For those who likes steamboat, there are also more than 10 option choices as side dishes on self service sided with their Fish Head Pot where soup base to be refill on demand.  Secondly will be their Prawn in Bread, which also one of the signature in the hot pot restaurant.  Commonly ‘Ming Prawn’ being selected prepared in Indonesian cuisine, stir fried 10 minutes with their in-house curry paste, fresh milk and 5 Chan Jie’s secret spices brings salted, sweet and spicy taste, then served insided into the round oil-fried bread buns.  Breads taken with prawn or tipping onto the sauce will be one of the best eatery in town.

Another will be their Ginger Duck, which also recommended among menus on founder’s home generation recipes.  Local feeded fresh duck stewed an hour with soy beans, ginger, garlic, onions and their 5 recipes mixture brings exotic salted taste and chewing duck meats texture you will never regret after taken.  Also the favourite by their regulars, is one of the chinese religious traditional authentic home cooked dish taken since decades ago.

Last but not least, the Black Stout Spare Ribs also strongly introduced by the owners.  Fresh local pork ribs selected deep fried after marinated, then stir fried with their 9 spices mixture and finally poured into some stout beer before served brings unbelievable exotic taste with sweet you cannot missed when stepped into the “CJ Hot Pot Restaurant” in Ipoh, Perak.
