The Lahat Datu originated Sabahan Mr. Eric Kua Yu Vun (born 1972), was the initial founder cum immediate direct owner of this best recommended chinese seafood house “New Taste Restaurant” in Semporna, Sabah introducing most of their local live seafoods and signature home recipes to the market in manner. Also recently being assisted by elder sister Madam Kua Yu Nyuk (born 1967), son Kua Tze Shuan (born 1997) and his operation main chef Mr. Wong Soo Vui (born 1981) leading the restaurant’s daily operations.

The founder Eric Kua or known Chef Eric, who at his age of 47 years old currently been initially stepped into the f&b industry at his 18th in year 1990 began as a kitchen trainee in a chinese cuisine restaurant “Maxims Seafood Restaurant” in Tawau spent more than a year there. Later-on continue his exposure in the field been also reached Kota Kinabalu, hometown Lahad Datu, Kuala Lumpur and even overseas to Singapore & China to sharpen his experience in the career, positioned as a Chef at his 21st of age.

While in year 2013, Eric Kua started his chinese coffee house (Kopitiam) for the first time in Tawau running for only few years in circumstances. With his vision to have his very owned seafood eating house, added with the experiences hold and foreseeing the market opportunity in the f&b industry here allowed Eric Kua in year 2016 successfully established his chinese & live seafood eating house named “New Taste Restaurant” at Bandar Baru Semporna. Then the 2nd in year 2018 at Bandar Mutiara, Semporna all the while serving their home signature seafood menus to the visitors. According to founder Eric Kua, their 3rd outlet along Jalan Hospital and 4th at Taman Sutera, Semporna will be coming up in year 2019 respectively.

In this New Taste seafood restaurant, the owners’ & chef’s very first top recommended in menus will be their “Wet Butter Milk Lobster” which favourite by the tourists all the while. Local fresh live deep sea lobster selected on customer’s request, cleaned & deep fried to cooked in about 4-5 minutes with floured-up, then wok-stired in only seconds with their chef’s in-house wet butter milk sauce broth (made from mixtures of butter, fresh milk, fish sauce, chicken stock etc) mixed into chopped chilli padi & curry leafs will brings excellent lobster’s freshness & texturing bites into mouth that you must try when reached Semporna, Sabah. Another will be among their best in clams selection, the “Spicy Wok-Fried Clams” which also the restaurant’s daily top seller. Local fresh sea clams/shells in options of mussel clams, scallop clams & oyster clams on customer’s request, cleaned then wok-fried with their home recipe sauce paste mixtures, added into chilli padi, spring onion shredded, chopped garlic & dried chilli will brings amazing tasty & spicy taste eatery that you will never regret after tasted here. While in fresh abalone corner, the owners introduced their “Steamed Fresh Abalone with Garlic Paste” which wanted by most of the tourists when reached Sabah. Local deep sea live abalone on weight of about 200-400grams commonly selected, fresh steamed in about 5 minutes topped with garlic paste & glass noodles will brings wonderful abalone’s freshness and bites texture into mouth with obvious delicious garlic taste that you will like it.
