THE BROTHERS NEVER GIVE-UP! NON-STOP SIGNATURE DISHES, MAINTAINING THE NAME “OLD MAN”

The second generation Mr. Chen Chee Loong (Ah Loong) and Mr. Chen Chee Siang (Ah Biang) who grown up in a f&b family are the founders and recently the immediate owners of the famous “Old Man Restaurant” in memories to their grandfather who well known as ‘Old Man’ in their hometown Kajang, Selangor.

Ah Loong who stepped into the food and beverage industry since his age of about 12 years old in the year 1986 helping his father, Mr. Chen Kong San, in their food stall ‘Choy Kee’ at township Jalan Besar after school time and holiday. After graduated from his local secondary education, Ah Long entered into commercial market underemployed as marketing personel in health & skincare industry line for about 8 years before re-stepped into the food restaurant career with his younger brother. While Ah Biang (younger brother) recently also the main chef of Old Man Restaurant too initially touched the industry since his secondary education. Later in the year 2001 at his age of 17 years old, Ah Biang recruited himself into a chinese cuisine restaurant at Kajang as kitchen helper a biginner. After about 1 1/2 years experienced and specialize in steamfish and braised soup section, he quit his jobs and joined his brother Ah Loong to established their very first own “Old Man Restaurant” at Jalan Putra Kajang in the year 2003 then expand to recent location at Taman Kajang Impian since year 2010.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Although faced business crisis in the first three years after operating the restaurant, the brothers never give up continue with their passion to run the restaurant to maintain their grandfather ‘Old Man’ reputation and non-stop creating and presenting their very own recipe dishes to the locals. According to Ah Loong, this passion is the most important reason to them to have the success today. In their more than few hundreds choices menu, the very signature will be the ‘Ebiko Fried Rice’ which also one of the reason leads to their success today which most wanted by visitors, especially students since from their initial restaurant at Jalan Putra Kajang. This seafood fried rice mixed with fresh shrimp, fish cake and octopus fried with 2 combined rice which made of steamed butter rice and roasted rice, and fried with only egg yolk then presented top with Ebiko (shrimp egg) before served to maximise the chewing tasty eatery when put into mouth.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The other to be recommended will be the specialize in the Old Man Restaurant and also one of the signature for the restaurant, the ‘Soup In Claypot’ with more than 20 choices all emphasising health, which 2 or 3 choices will be available per day such as shark bones soup, chinese herbal soup and vege soup. These soup steamed by placing in claypot then entered into a big ‘soil pot’ imported from China heated above charcoal inside. Beside, their ‘Deep Fried Abalone Mushroom With Butter’ will never missed by their visitors not only adults but also oldies and children, tasty and crunchy crispy when bite.  The chinese generation stewed pork famously known ‘Dong Poh Pork Belly’ also the top recommended in the restaurant which served in cutting cube size easier to take in.  Pork meat stewed with their homemade recipe sauce and maltose for at least one and a half hours brings the top eatery. In seafood fish choices, the ‘Special Dual Steamed Tilapia or Red Snapper Fish’ bring two different taste served without back bones and meats cut in slice steamed with their recipe sauce mixed with slight ‘tong gui’ squeezed in powder and chrysanthemum brings the exotic taste and freshness. For vegetables, their Japan imported ‘Da Chai Xing’ or also known ‘Da Bai Chai’ clear fried with garlic and oyster sauce is also the most welcome by their customers. Nonetheless, this dish also served as appertizer or main course will be the ‘Sweet & Sour Pork Mountain Ice’, which made from the deep fried pork meat with their homerecipe sweet and sour sauce served topped with ice curious the visitors.
