TASTE THE SOUTH MALAYSIA’s DELICACY HERBAL KWAY TEOW SOUP AT “JIA CHENG”, SERVED IN TRADITIONAL RECIPE

The Herbal Kway Teow Soup, which known locally “Kway Teow Chai” or “Kway Chap” is one of the Teow Chew’s traditional eatery taken since hundred years ago, being the Johor’s delicacy food favourites by the locals and visitors today.  Here in Johor Bharu we found and recognised one of the recommended herbal kway teow soup restaurant “Jia Cheng” since 2014, serving their home family recipes under a roof.

The both local Johoreans Mr. Alan Tan Chor Wee who born in year 1975 and Mr. Foo Chuan Meng (born 1972) were the initial founders and recent owners of the well known “Jia Cheng Kway Teow” eating house at Johor Bharu.  Being assisted by Alan’s lovely wife Trista Ong Sze Yee (born 1980) in administration running towards one of the best kway teow chai restaurant in 2016.

Foo Chuan Meng who at his age of 44 years old currently, formerly was a Transporter, touched the f&b industry since kids helping parents in their family’s seafood restaurant at Taman Sentosa, Johor Bharu.  Then began from his age of 16th stepped into the kitchen as trainee chef assisting father for about 4 years.

While Alan Tan who at his 41st recently, all the while in Automobile Trading Industry, having great interest in eatery added with forseen the market opportunity in the f&b career enabled him to body-up with Foo Chuan Meng in year 2014 successfully established their very initial eating house named “Jia Cheng Kway Teow” at Taman Molek, Johor Bharu introducing not only kway teow chai but also Foo’s family home recipe menus to the market.

In Jia Cheng, surely the both founders will firstly recommend their signature traditional recipe’s Herbal Kway Teow Soup or known “Kway Teow Chai” in Johor.  Soup base boiled about 7-8 hours with fresh pork bones and herbals, then served with cooked flat rice noodles (kway teow) and topped with deep fried garlic, onions and pork oily  shredded brings authentic eatery you must try when reached Johor.

Secondly will be those sided menus taken with Kway Teow Kia, such among famous are stewed/boiled duck, pork skin and pork belly (must taste) which boiled an hour with more than 10 chinese herbals and recipes mixture brings exotic tasty and excellent bites texture you cannot aside.  Will be a perfect set of their kway chap most wanted by the regulars, and also the restaurant’s top signature seller recently.

Others, the selection like pork intestines, ears, tongue, dried beancurd etc which also cooked with their in-house herbal soup base also among the recommended menus which will be taken with the Herbal Kway Teow Soup in Jia Cheng, especially taken tipping onto their homemade chilli paste, favourites by those who like spicy.

Besides that, Chef Foo also introduced his family’s traditional recipe Stewed Pork Rice which only in “Jia Cheng”.  Pork belly selected and prepared in minced, followed by about 25 minutes stewed with their secret recipes then served topped onto boiled rice and sided with stewed chicken egg will be the best in town neither found elsewhere.

Moreover, their Stewed Pork Trotter prepared in 45 minutes stewed with 10 ingredients mixture and herbals really brings another authentic eatery you will never regret after tasted.  Especially the trotter bites texture itself into mouth.

Nonetheless, the owners also taken the opportunity to recommend their Deep Fried Kampung Fish which taken with lime and chilli paste provided which you cannot missed when stepped into this “Jia Cheng Kway Teow” eating house at Taman Molek, Johor Bharu.
